3.4 ASSOCIATE DEGREE IN EDUCATION (ADE) PRE-SERVICE PROGRAMME
WHAT’S THIS PROGRAMME ABOUT?
The Associate Degree in Education (ADE) has been designed by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to respond to the requirement of the National Education Policy 2009, which states that by 2018 all teachers in Pakistan’s classrooms will require a Bachelors degree in order to teach. Hence, in the beginning of 2018, the career progression opportunities for most of the in-service teachers will be closed as the ADE or B.Ed. degrees will be mandatory for induction and promotion.

This course is for prospective teachers.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- FA/F.Sc/ A levels with minimum 2nd Division
- FA/F.Sc/ A levels with school subjects
LENGTH OF PROGRAMME
Associate Degree in Education (ADE) is a transitional two-year programme of 64-68 credit hours. The degree is aligned with, and leads to, the B.Ed. (Hons.) Elementary programme.The duration of the course is 2 years (4 Semesters)
ATTENDANCE
80% attendance is essential
HOW ARE YOU ASSESSED?
Summative assessment will include mid-term and end-of-semester examination. Formative assessment consists of assignments, project work, presentations, microteaching, class tests , term papers and class participation.
