| Background |
| AIE with financial support of Robert Cotton Associates (RCA) Khanewal and Babar Ali Foundation established a Training and Resource Centre (TARC) at Khanewal District in June, 2003. In July 2005, the funding from the RCA elapsed but Babar Ali Foundation decided to carry on this project. In June 2007, AIE decided to replicate the concept of Child Friendly School in Khanewal after getting very encouraging outputs from the six UPE districts of Punjab. Work plan for year 2007 was shared and approved from the EDO (Education) Khanewal. As pilot project, 25 primary schools (20 Girls Primary Schools+5 Boys Primary Schools) were identified. This was a cluster based identification within the radius of 25 kms from the TARC. The criteria for the selection of the schools comprised of at least two of the following indicators: |
- Minimum number of students in each school is 100.
- Minimum number of teachers in each school is 2.
- A Boundary wall and washroom.
